Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson), an older man known for dating younger women, goes with his girlfriend Marin (Amanda Peet) to her family’s beach house in the Hamptons. They are surprised to find Marin’s mother, Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), already there. Erica is unsettled by Harry and Marin’s relationship. When Harry has a heart attack, a doctor (Keanu Reeves) advises him to stay at the house to recover. As he gets better, Harry finds himself drawn to Erica, who may be the first woman he can’t easily charm.
