When disposed of in the trash or poured down a sink or storm drain, the toxic chemical components in products like paint, turpentine, acid, or lye-based cleaners, household and car batteries, pesticides, and herbicides will damage the environment. These items end up in Clear Lake and other waterways, endangering the health of all — children, wildlife, pets, and the environment.
Household hazardous waste is collected from Lake County residents the third Friday and Saturday of each month from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at rotating ends of the lake for convenience to all residents in Lake County. Most items are accepted free. Businesses must make an appointment by calling 707.263.6400 and a small fee will apply.
