During the month of March, we have been highlighting businesses in Lakeport that are owned by women. Here are the highlights from March 2025. We understand that there are many more than what we have named here! We hope to continue highlighting them in the months to come!

Christy Brown owns and operates Susie Q’s Donuts & Espresso on South Main Street in Lakeport! The charming pink building with the drive through really stands out as you travel along South Main Street! Meet Holly Smith-Martinez! She is the owner of Beauty Within Lakeport located in the High Street Village Shopping Center!
Holly is committed to giving back to the community: She hosted the 3rd Annual Free Haircuts for Kids before school starts 
She also supports animal control, blanket drives, and meal donations for the unhoused 
In addition Holly provides free haircuts for high school graduates 
She employs multiple people at Beauty Within and is a true asset to Lakeport!

Meet Val Stallings! She is the proud owner of Send Rover on Over Lakeport ! Not only does she offer dog boarding and training at her facility, but she is also on a mission to put a big dent in the animal crisis here in Lake County. Val is having a 1 mile walk/5k fun run fundraiser “It’s For The Dogz” to support this cause! We highly recommend Sending Rover On Over for all your pet boarding and training needs!

Meet Kellee Bussard! She owns The Shoe Box which is located in the Safeway Shopping Center in Lakeport. Kellee first started selling shoes when she was in college. She opened her store 10 years ago and prides herself in carrying comfort shoes. Whether you have plantar fasciitis or other issues with your feet, you will find the perfect shoe at The Shoe Box! Stop in as she carries way more than shoes! You will be impressed!!
Threads N Things
Meet Sandra Avila! She is the owner of Threads ‘n’ Things located at 2559 Lakeshore Blvd, just down the street from TNT Restaurant. Sandra raised her children in the Lakeport area and enjoyed taking them to all the stores all over town on Saturdays. She recognized that a lot of good items were being discarded in the trash and decided to do something about it. She opened Threads N Things to offer a place where people could bring items they no longer want and are good to re-sell! In her store you will find treasures along with some local artists work! If you haven’t been to Sandra’s store, stop by! You’re sure to find that one-of-a-kind item at a good price!!
Darn Cute Quilts & Fabrics
Meet Kim Darnell! She is the owner of Darn Cute Quilts and Fabrics located in the High Street Village Shopping Center in Lakeport! The shop has been open for 1.5 years. Kim offers fabrics, notions, and quilting classes for all levels! Check her website for information www.DarnCuteQuiltsAndFabrics.com. It was her mother’s dream for Kim to open a fabric store in Lakeport and we’re so happy that she did!
Fixin’ It Up With Sandra
Meet Sandra Campos! She owns Fixin It Up with Sandra Shop located at 270 N. Main Street in Lakeport! Sandra has lived in Lakeport for about 15 years and in Lake County for many more years than that. Her shop started out as a bog before the pandemic and then morphed into a YouTube channel. She eventually opened her own store after being a vendor. Her store is filled with unique items! The inventory changes constantly, so a visit very now and again will provide a unique experience! She makes her own candles, soaps, and bath bombs! Her YouTube channel is Fixin It Up With Sandra … that’s how her store got the name!
Ripe Choice Farm and Catering
Meet Tammy Lipps! She is the chef and owner of The Ripe Choice Farm and Catering, 2550 Soda Bay Road, Lakeport! Tammy is a former actor but turned chef when she wanted to spend more time with her young family. Upon graduating from culinary school in 2001, she became a private chef to celebrities. Tammy had a custom catering business in Manhattan Beach California for over 20 years. In 2020 Tammy and her husband Mark moved to Lake County and opened Ripe Choice Farm and Catering. Whether you want to rent the barn and have a catered lunch or dinner, or you have an event at another location, Tammy will work with you to set the menu you desire! There is also a Farm Stay option at their location! Something new this year are events that they are hosting at the barn! Keep an eye on their Facebook Page for announcements! Jitter Bean Coffee
Meet Maureen Brasier! She is the owner of Jitter Bean Lakeport which has two locations: South Main Street and High Street Village Shopping Center! Maureen took over Jitter Bean in 2013 after her friend that owned it had a family tragedy. This is the original location on South Main Street. The High Street Village Shopping Center location was opened in February of 2023. Maureen has enjoyed opening the second location which allows her to create a “Coffee Shop” feel along with having a drive-thru. You can order online and pick up at the store, or have your coffee delivered! Whether it be regular coffee or one of their explosions (ice cream based), we’re sure you will find your favor coffee drink at Jitter Bean Coffee!
Flowers By Jackie Lakeport
Meet Tammi Matthias! She is the owner of Flowers By Jackie Lakeport located in the High Street Village Shopping Center!
Have you ever wondered why it’s named “Flowers by Jackie”? Flowers by Jackie was founded in 1977 by Jackie Cannon, a longtime resident who sadly passed away just a couple of years after opening her flower shop. Jackie’s wish was for her friend to purchase her sweet little shop on Main Street and carry on her legacy.
In 1980 that is exactly what happened. Pat Tyrrell relocated from Petaluma to Lakeport and was the sole owner until she retired in 2023. Pat kept Jackie’s name in memory and respect of her dear friend, of which, Jackie’s name remains today.
Upon Pat’s retirement, Tammi relocated from Sonoma County to Lake County and purchased the business. Although Tammi grew up around the floral and plant business she spent her entire career in nonprofit management, both internationally and nationally. Quite a change!! Tammi envisioned the flower shop moving to a larger location to allow for expansion of flowers while adding more indoor and outdoor plants, gifts, books, games, cards, gardening items and metal yard art, along with home decor, macrame, and locally made gift cards and natural skin care products, And pots… she has an expansive selection of pots, vases and interesting vessels.
March 27, 2025 marks just two years since Tammi purchased the business and has added so much more, including design workshops for all ages, plant education, extensive floral design areas and has created a beautiful and welcoming space where guests do not want to leave! With a small, yet incredible staff, they are able to continue to create gorgeous designs, deliver around the lake and beyond, while continuing to expand their indoor and outdoor selection of common and rare plants. Recently, Tammi and her team launched Second Sunday Maker’s Market in the High Street Village Shopping Center with more than 30 artisan vendors each month. Next up on their launch list is a unique Floral Subscription and Plant Club. Be sure to follow her on Facebook and Instagram. Meet Claudia Konocti, Owner of KONOCTI COMPUTERS in Lakeport
Since 2011, Claudia has brought and expanded technology throughout Lake County. As the owner of Konocti Computers, she offers sales and repair services for all things tech, backed by a team of knowledgeable “techxperts” available 365 days a year, providing in-home, in-store, and in-office services.
Also since 2011, Claudia has served as Lake County’s meteorologist—known as “Chloe in Clear Lake”—on Channel 2 Morning News, sharing reports and photography that highlight the region’s beauty and make it a must-visit destination for millions of viewers.
Beyond technology, Claudia is committed to giving back to the community. Through Konocti Computers, she organizes annual drives to collect and distribute essential supplies to those in need, ensuring support reaches as many people as possible.
In 2026, she will be adding a new business to Lake County, continuing to provide the community she loves with the services and resources it needs.

Originally from Louisiana, she made her way through Marin and Sonoma before settling in beautiful Lake County, drawn by the scenery and perfect weather. Her shop, located at 576 Lakeport Blvd in Lakeport, is a masterpiece itself—featuring antique barber chairs and a couch made from the back end of a car (yes, the lights still work!
Beyond barbering, Sandy is also an artist, and her amazing artwork is proudly displayed in the shop. Stop by for a fresh cut and soak in the creativity!

Meet Kaila Carpenter! In May 2021, Kaila started Wicked Automotive with one goal in mind—to create an auto repair shop where everyone feels respected and valued. As a woman, I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to walk into a shop and be treated like you don’t know what you’re talking about. I grew up around cars with my dad as a mechanic, so I know the basics, and I wanted a business that treated customers with honesty and integrity.
